According to the printout - Walberswick to Dunwich circular walk - a slice of coastal walking heaven :) and to be fair thats not far out !!!
We parked up at Walberswick by the river at midday and after taking a few pics of the boats headed to the beach.Even on a calm day like today the long sweeping bay leading all the way to the power station at Sizewell is stunning and also a great windsurfing spot ( I will have to make the effort to bring the kit up here soon !!! but the one and only time I have sailed here several years ago on a shortboard the wind swing offshore and I managed to finally get ashore the other side of Southwold peir with the coastguard and police looking for me !!!! )
We followed the edge of the sea the 3 miles to Dunwich in the hope of having fish and chips at the cafe in the carpark,we were starving at this point but found that the cafe dose'nt open until next weekend :( The problem was solved just around the corner where we found The Ship and had top plaice and chips !!!
Refreshed we left the pub at the 3 o clock just before closing time and headed inland abit past the church turning right and walking through Dunwich Forest which was lovelly with snowdrops and daffadills in bloom. We were hoping to see the Exmoor ponies that have been introduced and were not disappointed finding several in a field overlooking a huge area of reeds and marsh land.We passed Dingle Hill ,ignored the footpath closed sign (work being carried out on the riverbank) and made it to the 'Old Wind Pump' as the sun was setting :) We got back to Walberswick village where we sat on a bench and watched the sun disappear, then past a field of lamas !!! and back to the van nearly in the dark at six o clock after nearly 8 miles and 6 hours away from he van !!! So a quick coffee and the 35 mile trip home - so a top top day out in the amazing Suffolk countyside !!!!
PS - Mag made good use of my Valentines present an 'I spy' book of the country and we got several points today !!!!
